National History Day in Delaware

The Delaware Historical Society is the institutional sponsor for National History Day in Delaware.  National History (NHD) is an educational program devoted to improving the teaching and learning of history in American schools.  NHD is a meaningful way for students to study historical issues, ideas, people, and events by engaging in historical research.

Each year NHD uses a new theme to provide a lens for students to
study history.  The 2008 theme is Conflict and Compromise in History.  The theme is intentionally broad enough that students can select topics from any place (local, national, or world history) and any time period.

NHD breathes life into the traditional history curriculum by engaging
students and teachers in a hands-on and in-depth approach to studying the past.  To learn more about the program and to visit the national web site visit: www.nhd.org.  The National History Day in Delaware web address is http://de.nhd.org/
